Event
Zig Zag Challenge is a timed, multi-lap running event held by Zig Zag Running at Brandon Country Park. Participants choose between two timed options and run as many laps as they can within the chosen time. The course is a 5.3 km lap through Thetford Forest, using gravel footpaths and some grass areas. There is an aid station on the lap and organizers describe the event as requiring minimal navigation and no mandatory kit. Standard lap counts given as examples include five laps for a heavy half marathon and nine laps for a marathon-length ultra, with options to increase laps on the day. A bespoke event medal is provided to most finishers, with a non-specific "lucky dip" finisher medal option also available. Virtual entries for the medal are offered.
Location and logistics
The event takes place at Brandon Country Park, Bury Road, Brandon, IP27 0SU, in the heart of Thetford Forest. Brandon Railway Station is about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) away. Parking at the park is chargeable and marshals will direct parking on the day. Race registration issues bibs; a baggage area is provided but items are left at the participant's own risk. Race headquarters and the lap/start point host the water/aid station. The event is cupless, so participants should bring their own bottles or cups. Organizers suggest road trainers, with trail shoes optional depending on recent weather. Minimum age is 18 and entries are limited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
