Zig Zag Challenge
The Zig Zag Challenge is a multi-terrain running event held at Brandon Country Park, located in the center of Thetford Forest in Suffolk. The event operates on a timed format where participants can choose between a four-hour or a six-hour session to complete as many laps as they wish.
The course consists of a 5.3 km lap that utilizes a mix of gravel footpaths and grass areas within the country park. Participants have the flexibility to run as much or as little as they prefer, with the option to rest between laps at the Base Camp. Leaving the start area for a final lap is permitted until the very last second of the time limit.
Based on the 5.3 km lap, participants can achieve various distances:
- 5 km (one lap)
- 10 km (two laps)
- Half Marathon (five laps)
- Full Marathon (eight laps)
- Ultra Marathon (nine or more laps)
The event is designed with straightforward logistics, featuring an aid station at the start of every lap and next to no navigation requirements. The Race HQ serves as the central hub for registration, baggage storage, and hydration. As a cupless event, participants are required to bring their own bottles or cups for refilling. Finishers receive a medal, with options for a bespoke event-specific design or a lucky dip version from previous events. The venue includes chargeable parking on-site, and the Brandon Railway Station is located approximately 1.5 miles away. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
