Event Details
The Zeta Tau Alpha Run for Life is an annual 5K run and virtual event. It is organized by the Zeta Tau Alpha chapter at the University of Virginia. The in-person race takes place on April 12th at Madison Bowl Field, which is adjacent to the University of Virginia grounds, located between Rugby Road and Madison Lane in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Event Background
This event has been hosted for the past 28 years. It benefits the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation, which funds scholarships, educational programming, leadership development, and breast cancer initiatives. Partnerships include organizations such as Bright Pink, the NFL, the American Cancer Society, and the local UVA Breast Care Center. In past years, the event has attracted around 1000 participants and raised nearly $30,000 annually.
Race Day Information
On race day, registration and check-in begin at 8:30 AM at Mad Bowl Field. A group warmup is scheduled for 9:30 AM, and the 5K run starts at 10:00 AM. Awards for the race, best costume, and raffle winners are announced at 11:00 AM, with the event concluding at 12:00 PM. A virtual option is available for participants to run the distance in their own location and submit their time online to be ranked on a leaderboard.
