About the race
Walnut Creek 5 & Dime is the third annual trail running event organized by the CATs at Walnut Creek Park in North Garden, Virginia. The event offers two trail distances on routes that share the park's wooded trails and views of the park lake.
- 5K Nickel route, 446 ft elevation gain
- 10 Miles Dime route, 1350 ft elevation gain
The course surface is approximately 90% wooded single track or double track and 10% open cross country or jeep road. The event uses sections of the TJ100k course and passes views of the park's 45 acre lake. Registrants receive race branded swag and post-race refreshments. CATs members receive a $5 discount on registration when they register using the RunSignUp account tied to their membership.
There is no race day registration. The event follows a no-refund policy with an exception for pregnancy and postpartum circumstances; those requests must be made to the organizer. Pets and strollers are not permitted on the course. The event is scheduled to take place rain or shine, though inclement weather that affects participant safety or trail conditions may cause delay or rescheduling.
