Event Details

The Zena Road Runs offers three distances: a 3 mile run/walk, a 6 mile run/walk, and a 15K run. All races start together. The event is held at the Noble Mountain Tree Farm on Bethel Heights Road NW in Salem, Oregon.

The heated building at the farm serves as the venue for pre-race packet pickup and post-race activities. There is parking for over 350 vehicles adjacent to the start/finish line.

The total participant capacity for all three distances combined is 400. Day-of-race registration closes when capacity is reached or at a specific time. Dogs and strollers are not permitted.

The Courses

All courses start and finish at Noble Mountain Tree Farm and use Bethel Heights Road, a gravel road.

  • The 3 mile course is an out-and-back route heading east towards Bjornson Vineyard. The surface is nearly all gravel and packed dirt roads.
  • The 6 mile course heads west past Bryn Mawr Vineyards to a turnaround at Bethel Heights Winery, then returns past the start to head east for another leg. The surface includes both paved and packed gravel sections.
  • The 15K run is a loop course that passes several wineries and vineyards in the Eola-Amity Hills area. The 15K course has a time limit; participants must maintain an average pace of 12:40 per mile to finish within 2 hours.

Post-Race & Extras

After the race, there is a complimentary 5-ounce pour from a selection of Eola-Amity wines for participants over 21, with a sparkling cider option also available. Age group ribbons are awarded for all three races.

All race participants and volunteers receive a commemorative stemless wine glass. A long-sleeve technical race t-shirt is available for purchase separately.

The event supports the West Salem High School Cross Country and Track & Field programs. Discounts on entry are offered for members of the Willamette Valley Road Runners Club and for participants aged 19 and under.

The Zena Road Runs 15K course, first run in 1969, is noted as the oldest race route in Oregon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
