The Yosemite Half Marathon is a 13.1 mile race held in the Sierra National Forest near Bass Lake, finishing at Recreation Point Group Campground. Vacation Races operates the event under a special use permit with the Sierra National Forest.
The course begins on wide fire roads and scenic trails, transitions into a long, fast downhill on pavement, and finishes with several miles along the shoreline of Bass Lake. Course statistics list a net elevation change of +304 ft and -2,285 ft and a 4 hour cutoff. Aid stations are located near miles 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 and provide bathrooms, water, electrolyte drink, and Honey Stinger energy gels; miles 5 and 7 also offer fruit. The event is cup free, so runners are asked to use a reusable water bottle, reusable cup, or a hydration pack.
Event logistics include an expo and bib pickup at Recreation Point the day before the race with additional pickup options, shuttle service to the start from Bass Lake area and Oakhurst pickup points, and limited parking near the finish line. Campground check in begins Thursday with check out by Sunday; RVs and trailers are not allowed. Awards use chip timing for overall and masters categories, place medals are awarded in multiple divisions, and all finishers receive a finisher medal.
