Yosemite Half Marathon
The Yosemite Half Marathon takes place in Bass Lake, California, and finishes at Recreation Point Campground on Bass Lake. The event is a point-to-point half marathon on mixed terrain that runs largely through the Sierra National Forest near Yosemite National Park.
The course begins with about five miles on a wide packed dirt trail through pine forest with rolling terrain. Miles six through ten are a wide paved road that features a sustained downhill descent. Runners then turn onto North Shore Road to follow a roughly three mile loop around Bass Lake before a final left onto South Shore Road and a short return to dirt trail into the finish at Recreation Point.
Course data provided by the organizer lists an elevation gain of 449 feet and a maximum elevation of 5,448 feet. The event is described as mostly downhill and uses both paved roads and dirt trails. The published time limit is four hours, and walkers are noted as welcome if they remain within that pace.
Aid stations are cup free; participants should bring a reusable cup or request a Nathan reusable cup during registration. Expect about five aid stations with water, electrolyte drink, gels, basic first aid supplies, and toilets. A medic is stationed at the finish line.
