Yorktown Independence Day 8K Run/Walk
The event takes place on July 4, 2026, on the historic Yorktown Virginia Battlefield Tour Road. Participants gather near the York High School tennis courts at 9300 George Washington Memorial Highway, Yorktown, VA 23692.
The main distance is a USATF certified 8K course (VA16022RT). A 5K is also offered. Both the 8K and the 5K use chip timing. Options include run, walk, ruck and virtual entries.

The 8K includes a Ruck Division. Ruck weight requirements are 10 pounds for participants under 150 pounds and 20 pounds for participants over 150 pounds. Ruck participants may run, walk or run/walk. Awards for the 8K include overall top three men and women and age group awards starting at 14 and under, then 15-19, then five-year increments from 20-24 to 75 and over. The top male and female ruck finisher receive awards.
Shirts and finish recognitions: race T shirts are provided while supplies last and shirt size is guaranteed for those registered by June 24, 2026. The first 350 registered 8K finishers receive a die cast commemorative medal. The 5K awards include overall and age group prizes and the first 150 finishers receive a custom coin. Virtual participants are not eligible for awards; swag and medals can be mailed for an additional fee. Packet pickup is available on race day only.
