Event Overview
The Lost in the Woods 5k is a charity run and walk event in Newport News. It takes place in mid-December. Two events are offered: a 5k run/walk and a Kids Fun Run.
Course Details
The 5k course is a two-loop route. It winds through the campus and the wooded area behind Peninsula Catholic High School. The event features Christmas lights along the course.
Charity Cause
All registration profits, after operational costs, are donated to charity. A portion of the race profits goes to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The other portion goes to a charity chosen by a winning team. Teams of five to seven runners can compete for this right. Individual participants can run, walk, or donate without being on a team.
Organizer
The event is hosted by the PCYT club, a group focused on teaching teenagers about community service.
