Yellowbrick Backyard Ultra

Yellowbrick Backyard Ultra is a last runner standing event held at Kinsey Park in Peoria, IL. The course is a 100% single track trail with no roads or water crossings and runs through a Wizard of Oz themed park with local wildlife and themed features.

Each loop measures 4.16 miles and is repeated on the hour until a single runner remains. Runners must be at the start line at the top of each hour to begin the next loop. There are 5 minute and 1 minute warnings before each loop. Except for restroom breaks, runners may not leave the course during a loop. Pacers are not allowed on the course, but crews may assist between loops. When a runner drops, they must notify race staff before returning to their vehicle.

Packet pickup is available Friday June 12 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and Saturday morning from 6:00 to 7:45 am at the start/finish area. Registration closed May 13, 2026. Camping is not permitted at the park; hotels are available within a 15 minute drive.

All entrants receive a T-shirt, sticker and participant award. There is an award and prize for the overall winner and extra items for runners who reach milestone distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
