Yellow Brick Road 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run
The Oconomowoc Area Chamber of Commerce organizes the Yellow Brick Road community race each year on the first Saturday in June. First held in 2006, the event uses a Wizard of Oz theme because the world premiere of the Wizard of Oz took place at Oconomowoc’s Strand Theater on August 12, 1939. Costumes are commonly worn and are part of the event atmosphere.

- 5K run
- 2 mile walk
- 1/2 mile Kids Fun Run for children ages ten and under
The 5K course starts at Village Green Park overlooking Fowler Lake, follows the isthmus between Fowler Lake and Lake Lac La Belle, passes through a neighborhood, and returns to Village Green. The 5K is chip timed and includes a custom cotton event t shirt, an annually redesigned finisher medal, age group awards for first through third in five year brackets, overall trophies for top male and top female, team challenge trophies, and post race bottled water. The Kids Fun Run is free, limited to 100 participants, and provides a finisher medal sponsored by Rogers Behavioral Health.
Registration details listed by the organizer note that registration is open, that there is no refund policy, and that a price increase occurs on May 16.
