Event overview
The Yakima River Canyon Marathon and Half-Marathon takes place on March 28, 2026 in the Yakima area of Washington. The races are point-to-point events held along Washington State Route 821 between Ellensburg and Selah. The course is USATF certified and follows the Yakima River downstream, with two major hills, numerous curves, and a net elevation loss of a few hundred feet.

Course support and services
Aid stations are located approximately every 2-3 miles and provide water, Powerade, and basic medical supplies. Medical personnel and restrooms are available along the course. Drop bags may be left at the designated vehicle or on a designated bus at the start for transport to the finish area; the organizer is not responsible for valuables left in bags. Buses transport participants between the start areas, race headquarters, and finish area.
Logistics, entry and awards
Race headquarters is the Selah Civic Center. Packet pickup is offered the day before and on race morning at specified locations. Registration is online only; entry fees increase by $10 after Feb. 27 and race deferrals must be requested by Feb. 27. The half marathon is capped at 200 entries; the marathon currently has no cap. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers and to age-division winners in five-year increments up to 85+. Entry includes a T-shirt, race-day transportation if needed, a finisher medal, and a finisher’s certificate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
