Y Domen Fawr
Y Domen Fawr is a fell race held at Cwm, Ebbw Vale (NP23 7RD, GR 180059). It is listed as part of the South Wales Series and is organised under WFRA insurance.
The stated race distance is 9.3 km (5.8 mi) with a total climb of 549 m (1,801 ft). The course starts and finishes on the Alpine climb using a 900 ft path and includes a fully marked anticlockwise loop up and around Y Domen Fawr.
Safety information notes the route is partially waymarked. The area is mainly low-lying moorland and open fell with heights up to about 600 m. Terrain includes tracks and fell paths of moderate difficulty. There is no significant exposure but mild risks such as ground holes, bogs, or river crossings may be present. Basic navigation and basic mountain skills are recommended. Escape routes are available though some sections have decision points. Adverse weather is not expected to present serious challenges.
