Skirrid Xmas Hill Race
Skirrid Xmas Hill Race is a fell race held on Saturday 19th December 2026 with a measured distance of 5.7 km and 450 m of ascent (3.6 miles / 1476 ft). The event base is the Skirrid Inn in Llanvihangel Crucorny, signed off the A465, NP78DH. Parking is on the roadside in the village. Entry fee is £10 and there are no entries on the day. Competitors must be over 16. A kit dump is provided and spot prizes are offered.
The start is in a western field marked by a large barn and a solitary oak tree. After a loop around the field runners head across agricultural land through several open galvanised ramblers gates. A 1.5 km continual climb through fields leads to the open fellside, with a road crossing before the route flattens. A path climbs diagonally to the ridge and then the course follows the ridge to the summit. The descent runs down the north west ridge and ends with a run across fields to the finish. The start and finish grid reference is SO 328201, approximately 500 m from registration, and the kit dump is at the start.
The route marked between A and A crosses private land and should be respected. Weather in December can be cold or wet and waterproofs may be required at the discretion of the organisers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
