The Rangituhi Rumbler is a trail running event on the Rangituhi/Colonial Knob area near Porirua, starting from Spicers Botanical Park. Courses run through Spicers Forest into Colonial Knob Reserve and include forest trails, farm tracks, zig zag climbs, and fast descents. The route offers a mix of runnable inclines, steeper zig zag climbs to the summit of Rangituhi, and descents that pass through Porirua Scenic Reserve with views over Porirua Harbour from the summit.
Distances and elevation for each course:
- 16.54 km, 654 m elevation gain.
- 9.66 km, 357 m elevation gain.
- 6.84 km, 250 m elevation gain.
The long course reaches the Rangituhi summit and returns via cruisey farm tracks and twisty turns back to the park. The medium course follows the same initial climbs and summit approaches, then returns through twisty sections into the park. The short course follows the same start and offers a gentler climb with playful zig zags and a quicker descent back to Spicers Botanical Park. Terrain includes lush forest singletrack, reserve tracks, farm trails, and several technical or twisty descents. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
