XTERRA South Africa : Elgin Valley, Grabouw
XTERRA South Africa is a one-day off-road multisport event held in Elgin Valley, Grabouw, Western Cape on February 27, 2027. The event is part of the XTERRA World Tour and the XTERRA Trail Run World Series and includes multiple race formats across triathlon, open-water swimming, trail run and kid-specific events. Races take place around the Elgin Grabouw Sports Club and Grabouw Country Club at Eikenhof Dam.
The event program includes the following race formats and approximate course elements:
- Full Distance Triathlon: SWIM 1.5K, BIKE 27K, RUN 10K (individual and relay)
- Sprint Triathlon: SWIM 750M, BIKE 11K, RUN 6K
- Super Sprint Triathlon: SWIM 250M, BIKE 7K, RUN 2K
- Kids Race: SWIM 100M, BIKE 4KM, RUN 1.5K
- Open Water Swims: 3Km, 1.5Km, 750m
Trail and bike terrain details are provided: the full bike course is about 80% single track and 20% jeep track, with mostly rocky and sandy surfaces and a technical rock garden section; the run course is roughly 85% single track and 15% jeep track with a stream section called the Swamble. Age categories and qualification notes are specified for each race distance. The event includes additional activities such as a pop-up store, a conservation hub and a coffee event, and offers services like athlete check-in, bag drop at registration, physio massage, and bicycle transport partnerships.
