About the race
XTERRA South Africa is an off-road multisport event held on February 27, 2027 in Elgin Valley, Grabouw, Western Cape at the Elgin Grabouw Sports Club and Grabouw Country Club at Eikenhof Dam. The event is part of the XTERRA World Tour and the XTERRA Trail Run World Series and includes triathlon, open-water swim, trail run and kids race formats.

- Full Distance Triathlon: Swim 1.5 km, Bike 27 km, Run 10 km
- Sprint Triathlon: Swim 750 m, Bike 11 km, Run 6 km
- Super Sprint Triathlon: Swim 250 m, Bike 7 km, Run 2 km
- Kids Race: Swim 100 m, Bike 4 km, Run 1.5 km
- Open Water Swims: 3 km, 1.5 km, 750 m
The full bike course is approximately 80% single track and 20% jeep track with mostly rocky and sandy terrain; a section called The Rock Garden is noted as the most technically demanding and an alternate easier line is available. The run course is roughly 85% single track and 15% jeep track and includes a stream section called the Swamble. The event allocated World Championship qualification slots and youth slots. It is TSA sanctioned; wetsuit allowances follow Triathlon South Africa temperature rules.
