XC Experience
The XC Experience is a 5k race that takes place on the R-S Central High School cross country course in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Course
The course consists of two laps. It is primarily on packed dirt or grass trails, with some paved sections. The race starts on the north end zone of a football field. Participants then run into the woods, winding through foliage and fields before returning to the stadium to finish on a track.
Registration and Fees

Registration pricing is tiered. For adults, it is $25 until September 5 and $30 from September 6 until race day. For participants 18 and under, it is $10 until September 5 and $15 from September 6 onward. T-shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after September 5.
Awards
Awards are given in several categories: first, second, and third place overall for male and female participants; first place male and female master (40 and over); and first, second, and third place male and female in each age group.
Age Groups
Age groups range from 6 and under to 70 and over, with categories for youth, teenagers, and adults in five-year increments.
