Ache Around the Lake
Ache Around the Lake is the 20th annual running event held around Lake Lanier, with portions of the course in Tryon, NC and Landrum, SC. The start and finish are at the Tryon Antique Mall and Marketplace, 1005 S. Trade Street, Tryon, NC 28782. The event date is October 10, 2026.
The event features multiple distances:
- 8K
- 2 Mile
- Kids 1 Mile Fun Run (free for ages 10 and under, untimed)
- Virtual 8K
The 8K course covers hilly terrain and begins with a downhill section. A notable early incline called GRUNT #1 appears just after one quarter mile. Additional hills follow and the route includes aid stations near mile 2 and again around mile 4. The virtual 8K option allows participants to complete an 8K remotely and submit results; submitting results is optional.
Entry fees listed for the event include a registration fee for the 8K and 2 Mile races, a separate fee for the virtual 8K, and free entry for the kids run. Awards are given by gun time with mass starts for each race. Award categories include top overall and masters places and age group winners for the 8K, and top overall male and female for the 2 Mile.
