Course Details
The main 8K course covers hilly terrain around the lake, starting with a descent before encountering a steep hill named "GRUNT #1" just over a quarter-mile into the race. Aid stations are located at mile 2 and around mile 4. The course is described as challenging and not ideal for setting personal records due to its undulating nature.
Logistics
The event starts and finishes at the Tryon Antique Mall & Marketplace, located at 1005 S. Trade Street in Tryon, North Carolina. Packet pickup is available on race day only, starting at 6:30 AM in the Tryon Antique Mall parking lot across from El Sureno Mexican Restaurant on Highway 176. Post-race refreshments are provided.
Awards
Awards are announced at 9:15 AM based on gun time from a mass start per race. For the Ache Around the Lake 8K, awards are given to the top 3 overall male and female finishers, the top 3 male and female masters finishers, and the top male and female finisher in multiple age groups from 14 & under to 70+.
