Event Overview
The Wounded Warfighter Lone Sailor event is an annual running competition held in Orlando, Florida. Organized by the Central Florida Navy League, the event takes place at the former site of the Naval Training Center Orlando in Baldwin Park. The race honors military heritage and supports sea service members and their families through charitable fundraising.
Distance Options
Participants can choose from the following course options:
- 10 km run
- 5 km run
- Virtual race (available for both distances)
- Kids race (50 yards for ages 4-6 and 100 yards for ages 7-9)
Course Details
The race begins and ends at Blue Jacket Park. The 10 km course consists of two loops around Lake Baldwin, passing through the area historically known as the "Grinder." Both the 5 km and 10 km distances are open for in-person participation, while a virtual registration option allows runners to complete their chosen distance from any location.
Participant Information
Preregistered participants in the 5 km and 10 km events receive a race shirt and a limited-edition finisher medal. Virtual runners also receive a shirt and medal via mail. The event features awards for the top three male and female finishers in the overall categories, as well as awards for different age groups ranging from under 14 to over 75.
The event also hosts a recycled sneaker collection campaign in cooperation with Sneakers4Good. Participants may bring new or used sneakers to the packet pick-up locations or to the race venue on the day of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
