Event Overview

The Wounded Warfighter Lone Sailor 10K is a fundraising running event. Its primary goal is to raise money for charities that support service members and the Central Florida military community. Over the years, the event has raised more than $400,000 for these groups.

Course and Location

The event takes place at Blue Jacket Park, located at 2501 General Rees Ave in Orlando, Florida. The course is described as a run around the former "Grinder," an area that was part of the Naval Training Center Orlando for over 30 years. The 10K course consists of two loops around Lake Baldwin. The event aims to honor Orlando's military heritage and support sea service members and their families.

Registration and Participation

The event offers discounts for veterans, active-duty military, and groups of 10 or more. All preregistered participants receive a premium race shirt, though availability is not guaranteed for registrations after a specified deadline. All participants receive a newly designed, limited-edition race medal. A virtual race option is available for those who cannot attend in person; virtual participants also receive a shirt and medal. Results for virtual runners can be submitted via email but are not required to receive race items.

Additional Activities

A kids race for ages 4-6 (50 yards) and 7-9 (100 yards) is held, scheduled around 9 AM. Registration is not required for the kids race, and it does not include shirts. The event also collects new or used sneakers for the Sneakers4Good campaign to keep them out of landfills and support micro-enterprises in developing nations.

Logistics

Pre-race packet pickup is scheduled for a Thursday at a Dick's Sporting Goods location in Orlando. On race day, packet pickup begins at 6:45 AM near the Blue Jacket Memorial. Parking is available along General Rees Blvd and on-street, but it fills up quickly. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
