Woodfin 5K : Asheville, NC

The Woodfin 5K takes place on April 25, 2026 at Woodfin Elementary School in Asheville, NC. The event is the ninth annual running of the Read - Write - Run fundraiser. Proceeds from registration and donations support Woodfin Elementary classrooms for Kindergarten through Grade 4; since 2014 the event has raised more than $80,000 for the school.

The 5K run/walk is hosted by Woodfin Elementary School with support and coordination from the Woodfin Elementary School PTO, the Town of Woodfin, YMCA of WNC, New Life Community Church, Reynolds Mountain Homeowners Association, and community sponsors and volunteers. Packet pickup is offered the day before and on the morning of the event at Woodfin Elementary School.

Registration fees vary by date: $25 through January 28, 2026; $28 from January 29 through March 30; $32 from March 31 through April 24; and $36 on race day. Children 11 and under are allowed to enter free of charge but must register. All entries include a custom race t-shirt, though the organizer cannot guarantee availability of a shirt or specific sizes for registrations after April 11, 2026.

Awards are given to the top three male and female overall, top masters (40+) male and female, and top three male and female in multiple age groups spanning ages 1 through 75 and up.
