Event Overview
The Wood River Run is a 5k fun run held to honor the memory of Christian Wood, a kayaker who passed away on the James River in 2018. The 2026 edition will be the sixth year of the event. It is held at Pony Pasture Park in Richmond, Virginia.

- The Christian Wood Scholarship Fund for Passages Adventure Camp.

The course is a run/walk along the banks of the James River on Riverside Drive, featuring scenic views of the James River Park System. The terrain includes road, trail, and gravel path elements. The start and finish location is at Pony Pasture Rapids, a popular area within the park.
Leashed dogs and off-road capable strollers are permitted for participants, especially walkers. Organizers note that part of the course runs along an active roadway. The top two finishers in each age group receive a prize. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
