Women's Distance Festival : Community 5K
The Women's Distance Festival is a community 5K held at North Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs. The event, formerly women-only, is now open to the broader community and uses a multi-loop trail layout on grass and hard-packed dirt.
All net proceeds from the event are donated to Girls on the Run of the Rockies. Girls on the Run is a nonprofit that uses running and a 10-week curriculum to support girls ages 8 to 13 with self-esteem, character-building lessons, and training for a 5K. Girls on the Run participants do not need to register separately.
The course is described as mostly flat and follows the park trail system. The staging area is the large grassy area south of the restroom and ball field. Colorado Springs Utilities will provide a water trailer on site for filling water bottles. The 5K is a Bolder Boulder qualifying race.
Event rules do not allow animals, baby joggers or strollers, earbuds or headphones, or bikes and trikes. Awards include commemorative medals for first overall male and female and top three finishers in the listed male and female age groups: 0-6, 7-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+. No duplicate awards are given. Entry fees are $16.90 for Pikes Peak Road Runners members and $22.20 for non-members; race day registration is available.
