Event Overview
The Women's Distance Festival 5K is a community running event in Colorado Springs. While historically a women-only event, it is now open to all community members.
Event Details
The event takes place at North Monument Valley Park, at the intersection of W Fontanero Street and Culebra Ave. The event includes a single 5K run.
Charity and Organization
All net proceeds from the event are donated to Girls on the Run of the Rockies. This non-profit organization uses running as part of a curriculum to help girls aged 8-13 develop self-esteem and character while training for a 5K. Participants from the Girls on the Run program do not need to register for the race separately.
Rules and Awards
For safety, animals, baby joggers, strollers, earbuds, headphones, bikes, and trikes are not allowed on the course. Awards include commemorative medals for the first-place overall male and female finishers, with awards three-deep in various age groups for both genders. The event is also a Bolder Boulder qualifying race and features a "mostly flat" course. A water trailer will be present for hydration.
Registration
Online registration has a standard fee, with discounts available for members of the Pikes Peak Road Runners and Southern Colorado Runner clubs. The discount is applied during online checkout. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
