About the race
Chasing Santa 5K/Cycling Santa is an annual toy drive in Colorado Springs that benefits local children and families. This edition is the 16th year of the event and combines a festive 5K run and several cycling route options with a community toy collection.
Participants receive a complete Santa suit with registration: pants, jacket, belt, hat, and beard. Toddlers age 4 and under are free with an adult registration and also receive a complete Santa suit. Santa suit pick up is scheduled the day before the event and on the morning of the event.
The event includes multiple course options:
- 5K run and walk
- 6 miles cycling route
- 10 miles cycling route
- 21 miles cycling route
- Toddlers category free with adult registration
A longer cycling route reaches the Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort, which serves as a turnaround point and provides coffee and fresh waffles before riders return. The event asks that donated toys be unwrapped so they can be distributed to families in the Colorado Springs area.
