Woldumar Trail Run
The Woldumar Trail Run is held at Woldumar Nature Center in Lansing, Michigan (5739 Old Lansing Rd, Lansing MI 48917). The event is organized on protected grounds spanning over 180 acres and features prairie, pine forest, wetlands, and hardwood forest along the Grand River. The course uses varied natural running surfaces; there is no pavement on the race route.
There are two distances:
- 5K trail run
- 1 mile Muskrat Mile fun run
Pre-registration is required; there is no race-day registration option. 5K registration pricing by date:
- 8/1/26–8/31/26: $30
- 9/1/26–10/1/26: $35
- 10/2/26–11/1/26: $40 Group discount: save $5 per person when registering four or more together. The Muskrat Mile registration is free; donations are appreciated. Donation options include donating $50 to receive $25 off an entry fee or donating $100 for complimentary registration.
Long-sleeve shirts are included with registration. Additional shirts may be purchased for $20 while supplies last; desired shirt size is not guaranteed after 10/16/2026. Early packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, October 30 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm inside the Merry Olds Room at the Woldumar Nature Center. Day-of packet pickup begins at 8:00 am.
Refreshments are provided after the race. Children’s activities are offered during and after the 5K. Pets are not allowed on the course during the in-person event; pets are welcome on the trails at other times. Participants may walk with strollers but should expect rugged, varied terrain.
Awards include hand-made natural wood plaques for overall first place in each gender category, custom finisher medallions for all participants, and 1st–3rd place awards in each age group: 14 and under, 15–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70 and over. The race is professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation; results are available live during the race and afterward on RunSignup.
Proceeds support Woldumar Nature Association programs in environmental education and land protection; the association engages over 5,000 students annually in outdoor education. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
