Event Overview

The WNY Armed Forces Day 5K takes place at the Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park in downtown Buffalo, New York. The event celebrates all who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces.

Race Details

The event is a 5K race. It uses a USATF certified course, though slight adjustments may be made due to road construction. Registration is $30.

Participant Information

The event welcomes everyone, not just military personnel. All participants who register by a specific early deadline are guaranteed an official event shirt in their requested size. Extra shirts are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each participant will receive a keepsake collector coin after the race. Professional RFID timing is provided.

Schedule and Location

The race starts at 8:00 AM. Packet pickup and race day registration begin at 6:30 AM at the Naval Park. An early packet pickup option is available the day before from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location.

Post-Race and Awards

A post-race celebration includes light food, snacks, and an awards ceremony. Trophies are awarded to the first-place overall male and female finishers. Custom age group awards are presented to the top three male and female runners in each division, with special awards for armed forces participants. Age groups are 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 and older.

There is plenty of free parking at or near the Naval Park. The event's cancellation policy states there are no refunds; organizers may postpone or offer a virtual alternative in case of foul weather or safety concerns. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
