Turk-EA Trot
The Turk-EA Trot is the 10th annual USATF sanctioned Thanksgiving morning road event held in East Aurora, New York. The race starts and finishes at the Boys & Girls Club of East Aurora, located at 24 Paine Street. Free parking is available on many village streets, in the Ace Hardware lot on Riley Street, and in the Town/Village Office lot at 585 Oakwood Avenue.
The course consists of two loops of the park. Slower runners and walkers are asked to move to the left side of the road so faster runners can pass on the inside; walkers are encouraged to use the sidewalks on their second loop. Chip timing using Jaguar Electronic RFID is provided and results are updated in real time and made available via mobile app, kiosks, on-site monitors, and online platforms.
Registration is available online (credit card) until the race start or until the field of 1,000 participants is reached; paper applications are available on race morning. An early packet pickup option is offered the evening before at 42 North Brewing Company on Pine Street. Optional performance shirts are sold separately for a fee while supplies last.
Post-race activities take place in the Boys & Girls Club gym and include awards, apple cider, and homemade goods. Awards include first overall male and female, first male and female senior masters 55 plus, top three male and female in multiple age groups, and best costume awards for kids and adults. Participants are encouraged to bring non perishable food items to benefit a local food bank; a substantial portion of proceeds supports the Boys & Girls Clubs of East Aurora and the Elma Marilla and Wales communities.
