Witterings Beach Run
Witterings Beach Run takes place on the sands of West Wittering Beach, a Blue Flag coastline in Chichester, West Sussex. The route runs along unspoilt sands and coastal trails with panoramic views of Selsey Bill, the Isle of Wight, Chichester Harbour, the Solent, and the South Downs. At low tide expansive sandy flats provide a firm running surface.
Three distances are offered:
- 15.3k trail run, 25 m elevation gain
- 10k trail run, 17 m elevation gain
- 5k trail run, 7 m elevation gain
The event combines beach running and short trail sections. The course is marked using pink arrows and pink tape; hazards and road junctions are signed with caution signs. On-course water stations supply refreshments and first aid cover is available at aid stations and the event centre. Entries include chip timing, a high-quality metal finisher medal, a finisher goodie, a personalised certificate, and encouraging marshals.
Practical arrangements include bib collection at registration where runners present their QR code, and a plastic-free policy so participants should bring a reusable cup or bottle for water stations. One dog per runner is permitted and canicross participation is accommodated; organisers advise bringing poo bags, water, treats, and an appropriate lead.
