Winter Wirral Ultra : November 14, 2026
The Winter Wirral Ultra is a 36 mile circular trail event that starts and finishes at Hooton Memorial Hall. The 2026 route is run in an anticlockwise direction and follows much of the Wirral Circular Trail, taking in coastal sections of the Wirral Peninsula before following the Wirral Way for the final 12 miles.
The course is mixed terrain with a large proportion of hard surfaces. It is suitable for both road and trail runners and for walkers able to complete the route within the 12 hour cut off. The route is largely waymarked but requires some self-navigation; a GPX file and an OS Maps route are provided.
Support and safety provision includes full tracking with an individual GPS tracker for each entrant, five marshaled food and water stations offering water, soft drinks and snacks, and on-site first aid. Spectators are not permitted at checkpoints due to parking restrictions but may watch from other points on the route. The event carries race permit number ARC/24/0668 and accepts entrants aged over 20.
Entry fees are published for standard and affiliate categories and include a finisher medal, drinks and snacks, and the GPS tracker. Finishers t-shirts are available for an extra fee and entrants may opt to participate in a tree planting scheme instead of or in addition to a t-shirt.
