Winter Wirral Ultra - 14 November 2026
The Winter Wirral Ultra is a circular 36 miles trail run around the Wirral Peninsula with about 812 ft of elevation. The route is mixed terrain with substantial hard-surface sections and is described as suitable for both road and trail runners and for walkers who can complete the course within the time limit.
The course starts and finishes at Hooton Memorial Hall at the end of The Wirral Way. The route follows the Wirral Circular in an anticlockwise direction, includes coastal sections of the peninsula, and finishes with roughly 12 miles on the Wirral Way. The route is well signposted with additional waymarking but is partially self-navigational. A GPX file and an OS Maps route are provided for navigation.
Event support includes full tracking, GPS trackers for participants, five marshaled food and water stations offering water, soft drinks and a range of snacks, and tail runners. The event has an inclusive 12 hour cutoff and accepts entrants aged over 20. Entry includes a finishers medal, drinks and snacks, and GPS tracking; finishers t-shirts can be added for a fee and there is an option to contribute to tree planting.
