Winter Wirral Ultra
The Winter Wirral Ultra is a circular trail event of 36 miles that starts and finishes at Hooton Memorial Hall, CH66 7NL. The course largely follows the well signposted Wirral Circular trail, runs anticlockwise for 2026, and includes the Wirral Way for the final 12 miles. The route is mixed terrain with many hard surfaces and has approximately 821 ft of total ascent. Some sections are self‑navigational with additional waymarking provided.
The event is fully tracked and includes a GPS tracker for each entrant so others can follow progress. There are five marshaled checkpoints offering water and a range of snacks such as soft drinks, baked goods, fruit, sweets, pretzels and peanuts. First aid is available on the day. A 12 hour cutoff is applied and tail runners will support finishers.
Entries are limited to those aged over 20. Standard entry fees include a finishers medal, drinks, snacks and the GPS tracker; a finisher t shirt is available for an additional fee. Prizes include trophies for first female, first male and first non binary, plus age category awards for V50, V60 and V70. The event operates a no single use plastics policy at checkpoints and partners with a tree planting initiative for optional offsets. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
