Winter Wirral Ultra
The Winter Wirral Ultra is a circular trail event taking place on Saturday 14th November 2026. The route is approximately 36 miles long and records about 812 ft of total ascent. It starts and ends at Hooton Memorial Hall and follows the Wirral Circular in an anticlockwise direction, including coastal sections and the final 12 miles along the Wirral Way.
The course is mixed terrain with many hard surfaces, so it is suitable for road and trail runners and for walkers who can complete the distance within the event cut off. The route is largely waymarked but is partially self-navigational. Participants are fully tracked during the event and there are five marshaled food and water stations along the route offering drinks, baked goods, fruit and snacks.
Entry includes a finisher medal, drinks and snacks, and a GPS tracker for tracking. Trophies are awarded for first female, first male and first non-binary finishers, and age category awards for V50, V60 and V70. The organisers provide first aid on the day and hold an event permit ARC/24/0668. A GPX file of the route is available and the event promotes reduced single use plastics and an option to plant a tree instead of or alongside a finishers T shirt.
