Sandstone Trail Half 2027
The Sandstone Trail Half takes place annually in early September; the 2027 event is scheduled for 5 September 2027. It is a point to point race that starts at Bickerton Hill National Trust car park (SY14 8LN) and finishes at Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre (CW6 0SR). The event replaced the previous Sandstone Trail Races in 2025.
There is no parking at the start area. Competitors may use an event bus from the finish area to the start or arrange their own drop off and collection at the finish. The finish area includes showers and a cafe. The organisers apply a cut off of three hours 30 minutes.
The route is often waymarked by yellow circular Sandstone Trail markers on posts, stiles and gates. Marshals are present where the trail meets local roads. The race includes a timed crossing on the A51; the time taken between the two controls is deducted from each competitor's overall time and this deduction is shown on the results provided at the finish. Prizes for the top three men and top three women are awarded by time.
There are two drink stations at about 6 miles and about 10 miles. The organisers recommend carrying additional water, a mobile phone and extra outer clothing. The race is run under FRA rules.
Entry rules include minimum age 16 on race day. Entry fees start at £15 for the first 100 entries then £30 for remaining places plus a booking charge. Transfers to another runner are allowed for an administration fee; refunds and deferrals are not offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
