Winter Thorn Trail Race
The Winter Thorn Trail Race is a fundraiser for Friends of Findley State Park held on Saturday, December 12, 2026, at the beach parking area of Findley State Park in Wellington, Ohio. The event uses a single-lap course that covers the entirety of the Thorn Mountain Bike Trail. The course measures 10.5 miles and consists of single-track, technical terrain.
The event is open to both racers and hikers, including an early start option for those who prefer more time on the course. A midway aid station at about mile 5 provides water and basic fuel and hydration. Course marking is scheduled the day before the event, providing an opportunity to preview the trails.
The event supports maintenance, improvements, habitat enhancement, and education programs for the park. Registration pricing varies by date: early-bird price is $45 through August 31, September entries are $50, October entries are $55, and race-day registration is $60. Postrace provisions include a warm meal of pancakes and sausage served at the finish by BSA Troop 414, custom finisher medals for all finishers, commemorative mugs, and event hoodies available for purchase during registration.
