Winter on the Downs
Winter on the Downs offers three ultra-distance trail races on a single-loop course. The events start and finish in the seaside town of Eastbourne, East Sussex. The races cover trails through East and West Sussex, beginning on the famous coastal chalk cliffs known as the Seven Sisters before heading inland towards Plumpton.
The terrain consists of a combination of grass trails, farm tracks, and woodland paths. The area is described as having a generally dry climate for the UK, with terrain that drains well. The weather in early December can be unpredictable, ranging from crisp, sunny days to conditions with strong winds, rain, sleet, fog, or snow.
All three race distances are part of the South Downs Triple Crown challenge, which involves completing three ultra-distance races within a calendar year. The event takes place at East Dean Village Hall.
