Event overview
Winter on the Downs is a set of three single-loop ultra races held in East and West Sussex, starting and finishing in Eastbourne. The event offers these distances:

Course and conditions
Each course follows trails in the South Downs area. Runners begin over the Seven Sisters and then head towards Plumpton. Surfaces include grass trails, farm tracks and woodland paths. The terrain is described as having good drainage, so while some sections can become wet and muddy, much of the route is generally runnable year round. Weather at this time of year can be variable and may include strong winds, rain, sleet, fog, freezing temperatures or snow as well as crisp sunny days.
