2027 Winter Island 5k & 10k
The Winter Island event on January 17, 2027, is a chip-timed running event held at Matapeake Park in Stevensville, MD, near the Chesapeake Bay pier and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Points from the races count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack Series, and also toward the Winter Series. A virtual race option is available.

Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (DriFit) event shirt, and chip timing. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed for runners registered before January 6; extras may be available afterward on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration fees listed before December 31 are $30 for the 5k and $45 for the 10k; later pricing applies and race-morning entry increases by $5 per distance. Race day registration and packet pickup are available at the event; sizes cannot be guaranteed for race-day registrants.
The event supports the Semper Fi and America’s Fund. Course support includes three water stations on the 10k at approximately miles 1.55, 3.1, and 4.65, and one water station on the 5k at approximately mile 1.55; Gatorade will be available at some stations. Restrooms are available on site near the start and finish. Live results are posted online and via a race QR code; final results with series points are published after the event.
Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second place in multiple age categories; overall top three are not eligible for age-group awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
