Winter Flight 8K & 5K : Salisbury, NC
Winter Flight is a road race event held at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina. The event includes chip-timed 8K and 5K races, a half mile fun run for ages 12 and under, and wheelchair entries through Ainsley’s Angels. The 8K serves as the RRCA North Carolina 8K Championship and is a certified course that starts near the college gym and finishes in Shuford Stadium.
Registration for the 8K and 5K has tiered pricing for 2027: $35 through January 22, $45 from January 23 through February 20, and $50 on race day. Walkers should register in the 5K; walkers are not allowed in the 8K because of a 90 minute time limit. Ainsley’s Angels runners may use the discount code ANGELRUNNER; riders receive a complimentary shirt at check in and do not need to register.
Participants in the 8K and 5K receive a long sleeve hoodie shirt and a finisher medal. Awards include top overall and masters categories in the 8K, age group awards three deep for male and female in both 5K and 8K, and specific fun run awards and medals for youth. Cash prizes and bonuses apply to the 8K, including a $100 award for first male and female and a $750 bonus for a new Winter Flight 8K record.
