Lights & Sirens Race for Hope for Special Olympics North Carolina
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP), through its involvement with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics North Carolina, is presenting a community fundraising event at Charlotte Motor Speedway on December 12, 2026. The event features a timed 5K and a non-chipped 1.5 mile fun run around the race track. All participants will run on the Charlotte Motor Speedway track.
The event includes these distances:
- 5K run on the Charlotte Motor Speedway track
- 1.5 mile fun run non-chipped, suitable for families and walkers
Proceeds support Special Olympics North Carolina and its registered athletes and Unified partners, nearly 53,000 in number. The first 250 registered 5K participants receive a voucher for the Charlotte Motor Speedway Christmas Light Show; fun run participants are not included in this promotion. Packet pick up begins on race day. Parking is inside the track through Gate 13 tunnel with Special Olympics North Carolina directional signs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
