Wings for Life World Run Nashville
The Wings for Life World Run is a global event where participants compete simultaneously in various locations. The Nashville event takes place at Geodis Park Plaza. This race uses a unique format where there is no traditional stationary finish line. Instead, participants use a mobile application that features a Virtual Catcher Car.
Participants begin the race and continue until they are overtaken by the Virtual Catcher Car. This vehicle starts moving thirty minutes after the commencement of the run at a speed of 14 km/h. It gradually increases its pace at set intervals until the final runner or wheelchair participant has been reached. The event is fully accessible for wheelchair participants, who compete alongside runners.
The Nashville gathering allows local participants to run together while using the app to track their progress and distance. The course is supported by local infrastructure, including:
- A refreshment station
- Local setup for timing and race number assistance
All entry fees and donations generated from the event are allocated to spinal cord research projects. This global initiative aims to support medical advancements for those affected by spinal cord injuries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
