Wings for Life World Run - Dallas App Run Event
The Wings for Life World Run in Dallas is a global event where participants run or roll to support spinal cord research. This specific event takes place at the Katy Trail Icehouse and utilizes a mobile application to track progress. The race format does not have a traditional static finish line; instead, participants compete against a Virtual Catcher Car.
The Catcher Car starts moving 30 minutes after the race begins at an initial speed of 14 km/h. It follows a pattern of steadily increasing its pace until it passes every participant. Once a runner or wheelchair user is caught by the Virtual Catcher Car, their race is complete. One hundred percent of the entry fees and donations collected are directed toward spinal cord research projects.
The course is located in the heart of Dallas on the Katy Trail. The route consists of a loop approximately 3.6 miles or 6 kilometers in length, designed as a 1.8-mile out-and-back path. The event is accessible for wheelchair participants and includes a local setup with a refreshment station.
Participants must use the specialized mobile app to participate, which manages the timing and race number for the event. The race begins simultaneously with other participants around the world. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
