Wings for Life World Run - Adelaide

The Wings for Life World Run is a global running event that takes place in Adelaide, Australia, at Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi (Park 16). This event is an App Run, where participants use a mobile application to track their progress and participate simultaneously with runners around the world. The race takes place in the heart of the city and is accessible for wheelchair participants.

The event features a unique format without a stationary finish line. Instead, participants run to stay ahead of a Virtual Catcher Car. This virtual vehicle begins its pursuit 30 minutes after the start of the race at an initial speed of 14 km/h. It steadily increases its speed until every athlete has been overtaken, at which point their individual race concludes.

The event serves as a fundraiser where 100% of entry fees and donations are allocated directly to spinal cord research projects. On-site facilities for participants in Adelaide include a refreshment station and a local setup to support those running in the group. Timing and race numbers are managed through the dedicated mobile app. Participants can set their own goals, with various milestones such as 5 km, 10 km, 15 km, or 40 km depending on the pace maintained before being caught by the virtual car.
