Bay Sheffield
The Bay Sheffield is a two-day athletics carnival held on 27 and 28 December at Colley Reserve, Glenelg. The program features men’s and women’s headline races run over 120 m that share a total prize pool of $16,000. The carnival also includes races for juniors, veterans, para-athletes and other men’s and women’s races over a range of distances.
The event combines on-track competition with spectator amenities including entertainment, food trucks, coffee and a VIP area with seating near the finish line. Live results are available through the event program and some coverage is livestreamed on the event Facebook page.
Athlete nominations open each November and the South Australian Athletic League handicapping system is used to assign handicaps and organise competitive fields. Spectator entry is free across the two days.
Distances contested include:
- 70 m races for some categories
- 120 m feature races for men and women
- Races up to 3200 m for other age and ability groups
The carnival is presented by local partners and organisers associated with the South Australian Athletic League and runs alongside off-track hospitality and community activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
