Event Information
The Wingman Foundation Coastal Carolina Memorial is a running event offering three distances: a timed 5K, an untimed 1 Mile Fun Run, and a Virtual Run option. The event is held annually to remember the life and legacy of service members lost in Navy and Marine Corps aviation mishaps. The 2026 event will specifically honor the crew of Yanky 72.
The Course
The course starts and finishes at Union Point Park in New Bern, North Carolina. It is described as mostly flat, with cobblestone and roads as the primary path. The route winds along the river to the north around the National Cemetery before returning to the park. The event is noted as being stroller friendly, wheelchair friendly, and dog friendly.
Awards and Participant Items
Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers in the 5K, and to the top three kids overall in the Fun Run. All finishers in the 5K and 1 Mile events receive a medal. Participants who register by March 10, 2026, are guaranteed a race shirt in their preferred size.
