Wine and Chocolate on the River 5K
Wine and Chocolate on the River is an inaugural 5K event in Green Cove Springs on December 19, 2026, presented by The Neighbor to Neighbor Newspaper. The 3.1 mile course runs through historic Green Cove neighborhoods, staying on quiet neighborhood roads beneath a canopy of old oak trees and passing riverfront houses, some over 100 years old.
The run finishes with a riverside social gathering for registered participants. Planned offerings at the post-race gathering include chocolate, wine, hot chocolate, music, and a selection of food trucks. Race participants will receive a glass of hot chocolate and a mini bottle of wine to take home.
The event is organized as a fundraiser. Beneficiaries for the inaugural year include the Green Cove Springs Preservation Society, Soul Food Festival, and the Food Pantry of Green Cove Springs. The evening will also coincide with the Green Cove Springs Parade of Trees display, which will be lit for the event.
The description focuses on observable features: the course setting, the post-run social elements, the charitable purpose, and the community and holiday context in Green Cove Springs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
