Windsor Castle 10-Hour
The Windsor Castle 10 Hour is a looped endurance event held at Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield, VA, organized by Lion's Pride Racing. The course is a 3.1 mile (5 km) counterclockwise loop over mixed terrain with forested rolling dirt paths, wooden bridges, and exposed paved sections. Each loop has about 138 feet of elevation gain and the park is open to the public, so non race participants may be on the course.
Event options include multi hour formats and a single lap race:
- 10 hour continuous event
- 5 hour Half Windsor option
- 2 hour Mini Windsor option
- One-lap 5 km event
Timing and lap scoring are manual. Volunteers will record laps; participants must complete full loops for laps to count and confirm their bib and lap totals with the lap counters. The course has two monitored street crossings and will be marked with directional signs and confidence ribbons. A GPX file and the official park map are available for course details including aid station, water stop, and restrooms.
Participants must carry personal hydration because the event is cup-less. Organizers provide an aid station and an additional water stop on course, plus a wide selection of food and drink options. Rucking is permitted in the 10, 5, and 2 hour events with required ruck weights of 30 pounds for participants 150 pounds or more, and 20 pounds for participants under 150 pounds; exceptions may be requested from the race director.
Awards recognize top three men and women in each event and provide a homemade finisher medal for all finishers. Teams of up to six members may be formed and the team with the most combined miles is acknowledged after the long events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
