Windsor Castle 10-Hour : event overview
The Windsor Castle races take place at Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield, VA. The event is staged on a 3.1 mile loop that gains about 150 ft per circuit. Multiple timed options are offered, plus a one-lap 5k.
- 10 hour event
- 5 hour event (Half Windsor)
- 2 hour event (Mini Windsor)
- one-lap 5k
The trail is a smooth, groomed surface of packed dirt with some small packed gravel sections. The loop passes through both shaded and exposed areas and includes two street crossings with minimal traffic. The park is open to others during the event and the course will be marked. All participants are required to carry a hydration device while on the course.
A rucking option is available for the 10 hour, 5 hour, and 2 hour events. Required ruck weights are 30 lbs for participants weighing 150 lbs or more, and 20 lbs for those under 150 lbs; exceptions to required weights can be requested from the race director.
This is a low-key, manually timed event. Race-day logistics include parking, packet pickup, and a single start for all races. A stocked aid station provides water, soda, snacks, fruit, granola bars, cookies, freeze pops, and warm food served throughout the day.
Awards are given to the top three men and women in each event. All finishers receive a homemade finisher's medal and a finisher item. In the event of a tie in miles, the award goes to the runner who completed the miles more quickly. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
