Windsor Castle 10-Hour
The Windsor Castle 10-Hour takes place at Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield, Virginia. The event utilizes a 3.1-mile trail loop that features approximately 150 feet of elevation gain per lap. The course consists of smooth, groomed trails primarily made of packed dirt with some sections of small, packed gravel. While the park remains open to the public, the course is marked and includes two street crossings in areas with minimal vehicle traffic.
Participants can choose from several timed durations or a distance-specific race:
- 10-hour individual race
- 5-hour race (Half Windsor)
- 2-hour race (Mini Windsor)
- 5 km single-lap race
A rucking option is available for the 10-hour, 5-hour, and 2-hour events. Rucking participants must carry specific weights based on body weight: individuals 150 lbs or more carry 30 lbs, while those under 150 lbs carry 20 lbs.
The event is manually timed and held in July. Due to expected high temperatures and humidity, all participants must carry a hydration device while on the course. The trail passes through both shaded and exposed sections of the park.
A stocked aid station provides water, soda, fruit, and snacks, alongside warm food items served throughout the day. Participants may set up chairs or tents up to 10x10 feet in size near the trail. Awards are presented to the top three female and male finishers in each category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
