Get Outside 8-Hour at Windsor Castle Park
The Get Outside races take place at Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield, VA. The event uses a 5-km loop course, estimated at 150 feet per loop, and runs in the opposite direction from the July Windsor Castle 10-Hour companion race. The course will be marked, includes two street crossings with minimal traffic, and the park is open from dawn to dusk.
Laps are counted and the event is chip timed. A fully stocked ultra-style aid station will be available at the central area, including hot soup and other hot items. There will be no aid station located mid-lap on the course.
The event offers multiple formats:
- 10K option
- 8 hour event
- Ruck 8 hour
- 4 hour event (Half GO)
- Ruck 4 hour
Ruckers must carry a minimum of 10 pounds in their pack. Participants may set up chairs or tents no larger than 10x10 near the trail. Awards include homemade finisher medals for all finishers, an additional finisher item, and awards for the top three women and top three men by distance in each event. In the case of an equal distance tie, the faster time breaks the tie. The organizer notes there are no refunds for cancellations though deferrals may be possible depending on timing.
