Get Outside 8 Hour
The Get Outside races take place at Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield, VA. The event features multiple formats on a 5 km loop with an estimated 150 feet of elevation gain per loop. The listed options include:
- 10K
- 8 hour timed event
- 4 hour timed event
- Ruck 8 hour
- Ruck 4 hour
- Half GO (4 hours)
Laps are counted and total miles are recorded for each participant. A fully stocked aid station is available at the event location and will include hot soup and other hot items. There is no aid station on the course mid loop. The course is marked and runs in the opposite direction from the July Windsor Castle 10 Hour companion race. Two street crossings are on the route, with very low traffic reported in the area.
Ruck participants must carry a minimum of 10 pounds in their pack. Runners and ruckers may set up chairs or tents near the trail; tents are limited to 10x10 feet or smaller. All finishers receive a homemade finisher medal plus an additional finisher item. Awards are given to the top three women and top three men by distance for each event. The event runs rain or shine. Registration refunds are not offered, though deferral may be possible depending on timing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
