Get Outside 8-Hour : Windsor Castle Park, Smithfield VA
The Get Outside event series is held at Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield, VA. It uses a marked 5-km loop, estimated at 150 feet per loop. The course runs in the opposite direction from the July Windsor Castle 10-Hour companion race. There are two street crossings with minimal traffic. The park is open from dawn to dusk.
Available event formats include:
- 10K
- 8-hour timed event
- Ruck 8 Hour
- Half GO (4 Hours)
- Ruck 4 Hour
Laps are counted and total miles are tracked. All finishers receive a homemade finisher medal and an additional finisher item. Awards are presented to the top three women and top three men by distance in each event; ties go to the runner who covered the distance in the shortest time. The rucking category requires a minimum of 10 pounds in the pack and awards top three women and men overall by distance.
A fully stocked aid station will be on site with hot soup and other hot items; there will not be an aid station mid-lap on the course. Participants may set up chairs or tents no larger than 10x10 near the trail. Registration closes Nov 27. Refunds are not provided; deferrals may be considered depending on timing.
