Windcrest 9/11 Remembrance Race & 1 Mile Walk
The City of Windcrest organizes the Fourth Annual Windcrest 9/11 Remembrance Race and 1 Mile Walk to honor first responders and remember those lost on September 11, 2001. The event includes options for running, walking, and an adaptive category. A remote "Sleepwalker" option allows participants to support the cause without attending in person.
Distances:
- 5K run
- 1 Mile walk not chip timed
All proceeds benefit the Windcrest Fire Department and the Windcrest Police Department. The first 100 finishers receive finisher medals. Awards for the 5K include overall male and female winners and 1st through 3rd place in age groups 15 and under, 16–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70 plus. The adaptive 5K recognizes the top two male and top two female finishers.
Timing will be hand managed rather than chip timed. Participants receive an index card at the finish line to record their finish time and place it in the appropriate age group basket; volunteers are available to assist.
Registration fees vary by date. Children ages 4–10 have a reduced fee when registered with a paid adult, and children 3 and under are free with a paid adult. The event has a no refunds policy; confirmation emails include instructions for selling or transferring registrations.
Packet pick-up is held at Windcrest City Hall. The race location is 9310 Jim Seal Drive, Windcrest, Texas 78239. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
