Windcrest 9/11 Remembrance Race & 1 Mile Walk
The City of Windcrest holds the fourth annual Windcrest 9/11 Remembrance Race on September 12, 2026. The event includes a timed 5K and a 1 mile walk, plus an adaptive category and a virtual "Sleepwalker" option for remote participation. All proceeds benefit the Windcrest Fire Department and the Windcrest Police Department.

Awards are given for overall male and female in the 5K, 1st–3rd in age groups (15 and under; 16–19; 20–29; 30–39; 40–49; 50–59; 60–69; 70+), and top two male and female in the adaptive 5K. Finisher medals are issued to the first 100 finishers. The event is not chip timed; participants receive an index card at the finish, record their finish time, and place it in the appropriate age group basket with volunteer assistance.
Registration pricing is tiered: $30 (early), $35 (standard), and $40 (race day). Children ages 4–10 register for $10 with a paid adult, and children 3 and under are free with a paid adult. Shirt purchase for children is optional at registration. The event policy states no refunds for personal decisions not to attend.
