Windcrest 9/11 Remembrance Race and 1 Mile Walk
The Fourth Annual Windcrest 9/11 Remembrance Race and 1 Mile Walk is a community event in Windcrest, Texas on September 12, 2026 that honors first responders and remembers those lost on September 11, 2001.

The event includes both walking and running and features an adaptive category. An awards ceremony and light food are planned after the event.
Finisher medals will be given to the first 100 finishers. Awards for the 5K include overall male and female winners and first through third in age groups: 15 and under, 16 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and over. The adaptive 5K will award the top two male and female finishers.
The race will not be chip timed. Hand timing will be used. Participants receive an index card at the finish to record their time and place it in the age group basket, with volunteers available to assist.
Registration fees vary by date: $30 until May 31, 2026; $35 until September 9, 2026; $40 on race day. Children ages four to ten register for $10 with a paid adult and may purchase a shirt at registration. Children three and under are free with a paid adult. Registration is online only and is nonrefundable; confirmation emails include instructions for selling or transferring registrations.
Event location is 9310 Jim Seal Drive, Windcrest, Texas 78239. All proceeds benefit the Windcrest Fire Department and the Windcrest Police Department. A Sleepwalker option allows supporters to participate remotely. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
