Waves are used to manage field size, each wave has a participant cap and fills on a first-come, first-served basis; late arrivals may start upon arrival and coordinators remain on site for a limited period after initial waves.

Swag and participant items are provided: a running T-shirt (shipped within the US to the address provided), a finisher's towel or giveaway, a finisher's medal, and a digital training pack. Technical running shirts are available as an optional upgrade for an additional $5. Race bibs are provided on race day; shirts are mailed the week of the race. Online results and certificates of completion are available, and participants receive an invitation to join local running clubs.

Organisers note a virtual option that can be completed at the participant's chosen time and place; virtual finishers can submit results to receive a medal. After the race, organisers donate $1 for each mile logged by participants to a partnered charity; fundraising is optional.
