Wincle Trout
The Wincle Trout is a hill run held as part of the annual Wincle Fete, which is usually on the second Saturday in June. The course runs around the Dane Valley and Gradbach and includes several river crossings. The exact route changes each year depending on which local farm is hosting the fete.
The distance is typically between 5 and 6.5 miles. The terrain is rural and follows farm tracks, fields and valley paths around the village of Wincle. Runners are given a bottle of beer after the event, and tea and cake are also provided for participants.
Recent editions have been based at different farms. The 2026 event started from Mellor Knowl Farm, the 2024 event was held at Tolls Farm, and the 2022 race was run from Brink Farm. The 2027 Wincle Trout Run is scheduled for Saturday 12 June 2027 at Tolls Farm by the brewery.
Race results and short race reports have been published for multiple recent years, recording finishing positions and team and age category awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
