Wincle Trout

The Wincle Trout is a hill running event held as part of the annual Wincle Fete, which is usually on the second Saturday in June. The course runs around the Dane Valley and Gradbach and typically covers about 5 to 6.5 miles. The route changes from year to year depending on which local farm is hosting the fete.

The course includes off-road terrain and several river crossings. Past events have been hosted from different farms; the 2026 race started from Mellor Knowl Farm and the 2027 event is scheduled at Tolls Farm by the brewery. Organisers record senior, junior and team results and publish race reports after the event.

Refreshments are available at the fete and runners have received a bottle of beer, as well as tea and cake, following the run. The event is presented alongside the village fete rather than as an isolated race, so facilities and the exact start location vary with the host farm each year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
