About the race
Bamford Carnival Fell Race is held in the Peak District in summer. The senior course covers 7.2 km with 320 m of ascent and starts and finishes at Bamford Recreation Ground (grid ref. 206829). Free car parking is available on the Recreation Ground, S33 0DA, off Station Road.
The route runs from the Recreation Ground to the top of Win Hill and back on a direct line. The course includes an initial dash across a field and a funnel into Water Lane, a climb to the summit, and a twisty descent through gorse bushes along a variety of paths. After the funnel into Water Lane the route has no further bottlenecks.
The event is licensed by the FRA under UKA Rules and is listed as Category B, Short. The senior race regularly attracts fields of over 200 runners. The minimum age for the senior race is 16 on race day. Entry options noted by the organiser include online entry via SI Entries at £7 for FRA members and £8 for non members, and entries on the night at £10.
