Bamford Carnival Fell Race
Bamford Carnival Fell Race is a Peak District fell race that runs up, around and down Win Hill. The event uses Bamford Recreation Ground on Water Lane as its base and is organised by Bamford Village Carnival. It is part of the Outside X Instinct Summer Fell Race Series and is licensed by the FRA under UKA rules.
The course covers 7.3 km (4½ miles) with about 305 m (1001 feet) of ascent. The route begins with a fast flat section from the recreation ground, rises along Thornhill Road onto footpaths toward the summit area of Win Hill, contours around instead of reaching the trig, then descends toward Hope before a well marshalled switchback returns runners toward Bamford. The final approach to the finish flattens again.
Refreshments include pizza from the Sunshine Pizza Oven and tea, coffee and cake provided by Bamford Preschool. Free parking is available at Bamford Recreation Ground. Event proceeds are directed to Bamford Primary School, Bamford Preschool, Bamford Recreation Ground and Mountain Rescue.
Entry details recorded for this event include a minimum age of 16, entry fees of £7.00 for FRA members and £8.00 for non members, entry opening and closing dates, and a note that same day entries may or may not be available and if offered will be charged at £10.
