Hathersage Hilly Triathlon
The Hathersage Hilly Triathlon is a novice friendly triathlon held in the village of Hathersage in the Peak District National Park. The event takes place at Hathersage Swimming Pool on Oddfellows Road in the Hope Valley, S32 1DU.
The swim is 420 m in a heated, open-air pool with wide lanes. Fastest swimmers are set off first so competitors can race in their own space. The bike stage covers 21 km on tarmac with hilly terrain; the hills are described as not very long or steep and the route offers views of the Derbyshire countryside. The run is 6 km, almost entirely off road through woodland and open countryside and is also hilly.
Transition area is paved tarmac and is about 30 m; it is more than 20 m from the first stage. The event expects around 300 competitors and the permit for the event is in progress.
