Winchester 10K
The Winchester 10K is a long-standing road race with a history dating back to 1983. Originally established as a 10-mile event, it transitioned to its current 10 km format in the late 1980s. The race typically attracts over 1500 participants, creating a significant community atmosphere in the city centre.
The race follows a single-lap route on closed roads. The course begins in The Broadway, situated directly in front of the King Alfred Statue and the historic Winchester Guildhall. Participants head through the city via St George's Street before moving toward the village of Kingsworthy. The return section of the course passes through the village of Headbourne Worthy and leads back into Winchester. The route offers a combination of urban settings and countryside parkland. The event concludes at the North Walls Recreation Centre.
Participants must be at least 15 years old to enter. The event is chip-timed, and registration occurs at the Guildhall prior to the mass start. While the standard entry includes a finisher medal, a reduced-price option is available for those who choose not to receive one. There is no official event car park; however, local parking options include St Peter's car park or the Chesil Street Multi-Storey.
