Wild Watermelon 3k at Brevard Zoo
Wild Watermelon 3k is a family-friendly event held at Brevard Zoo on June 20, 2026. The course runs through the zoo and passes animal habitats and native plants, and it is open to runners and walkers of various ages.
The in-person race includes two age categories: Adults (12 years and older) with a registration fee of $28, and Youth (11 years and under) with a registration fee of $25. There is also a Virtual Wild Watermelon 3k with a registration fee of $40. Race entries are limited and entry fees are nonrefundable.
Course support includes a water and Gatorade station along the route and at the start and finish areas. A one hour cutoff applies to all runners; participants who exceed that cutoff will be escorted off the course. Registered athletes receive a digital pre-race packet sent to the email address used at registration; virtual athletes will have their packets mailed.
Post-race refreshments include a watermelon feast provided by the Florida Watermelon Association. Prizes will be awarded to the Top 10 overall male and female finishers. All finishers receive a watermelon-themed medal and a commemorative running hat. Race shirts are available for purchase in advance for $20. The event is organized by Smooth Running to benefit Brevard Zoo and is presented by Florida Watermelon Association and Orlando Health. Race entry does not include zoo admission after the event.
