Wild Turkey 5 Mile Run - Salem
The Wild Turkey 5 Mile Run is an annual Thanksgiving morning road race whose proceeds support the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem. The event returns to its original course, with the route running by the Salem Willows pier and through Historic Salem.
Recent editions report broad participation: in 2025 there were 1,818 registered runners, with competitors representing 22 states and Canada. Women made up 54.86 percent of the field, and ages ranged from 7 to 80. Nine runners have completed every edition of the race to date.
Pre-race packet pickup with bibs and shirts is offered on Tuesday and Wednesday before the race at New England Running Company, Commodore Plaza, 43 Enon St., Beverly. Race day packet pickup and number distribution take place at the Peabody Essex Museum Atrium on the Pedestrian Mall in Salem. Awards are distributed inside the Peabody Essex Museum once timing results are available. Parking garages are located near the start and finish.
Online registration remains open through the day before the race and race day registration is accepted on site. The first 1,600 entries receive long sleeve shirts. The event lists past finishing times and records for reference. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
