Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series
The Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series is a set of three trail races held around Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL. The series takes place across December and January and is organized by RunningLane Events. The park address is 5105 Nolen Ave SE, Huntsville, AL 35801.
The series includes these race events and distances:
- Frozen Yeti: 5 Mile and 10 Mile
- Frozen Trash Panda: 10K and Half Marathon
- Frozen Goat: 15K and 30K
Courses feature bluff views, mountain scenery, creek crossings and waterfalls. Several aid stations are provided on course with water, Gatorade, coke, GU, pretzels, M&M's, granola bars and similar supplies. Marco's Pizza is a series sponsor and pizza will be available at the finish line for participants.
The series bundle is capped at 250 runners. Series participants receive a Wild Thangs series t-shirt, finisher awards and a series plaque. There are specific registration discounts for short and long series entries depending on the registration period. No refunds, deferrals, credits or transfers are offered and leftover shirts or medals are not mailed.
Packet pickup is available on the listed Fridays before each race and at RunningLane in Huntsville. Age groups cover standard decades from 0-9 up to 70 and over. Very loose cutoffs apply and there is a 17 minute per mile cutoff for Long Series entries.
