Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series
The Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series is a set of three trail races held on trails around Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL. The courses include bluff views, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Several aid stations are provided on course offering water, Gatorade, cola, energy gels, pretzels, candy, granola bars and similar items.
The series format and distances:
- Frozen Yeti: 5 Mile, 10 Mile
- Frozen Trash Panda: 10K, Half Marathon
- Frozen Goat: 15K, 30K
Series entries are offered as short series and long series bundles. The series bundle is capped at 250 runners. Series entrants receive a short sleeve tri blend race shirt, finisher awards and a series plaque. Age groups are 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+ for all races.
Organizers note very loose course cutoffs overall but a 17 minute per mile cutoff applies to long series participants; runners who cannot maintain roughly 15 minute miles are advised to consider the short series. There are no refunds, deferrals, credits or transfers and leftover shirts or awards are not mailed. Registration closes on Fri, Dec 18.
