Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series
The Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series takes place in the mountains surrounding Huntsville, Alabama. The series consists of three trail running events held between December and January at Monte Sano State Park. The courses feature mountain scenery, bluff views, creek crossings, and waterfalls.
Participants can choose between two registration bundles: the Short Series or the Long Series. These races are designed to help runners increase their distance throughout the winter months. The individual races included in the series are:
- Frozen Yeti: 5 Mile and 10 Mile distances.
- Frozen Trash Panda: 10K and Half Marathon distances.
- Frozen Goat: 15K and 30K distances.
The event provides several aid stations along the course stocked with water, electrolyte drinks, soda, gels, and various snacks such as pretzels and granola bars. Upon finishing, participants are provided with pizza. Those registered for a full series bundle receive a series t-shirt, finisher awards, and a series plaque.
The events have a cutoff time of 17 minutes per mile for Long Series participants. Packet pickup is available the day before each race at a local running store in Huntsville or on the morning of the event at the race site. The series registration is limited to 250 runners.
