Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series
The Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series is a three-race trail running series at Monte Sano State Park, 5105 Nolen Ave SE, Huntsville, AL. The series offers short and long series options and runs across December and January.
Distances in the series include:
- Frozen Yeti: 5 Mile, 10 Mile
- Frozen Trash Panda: 10K, Half Marathon
- Frozen Goat: 15K, 30K
The series bundle is capped at 250 runners. Bundle pricing includes discounts; Short Series discounts apply for early bird registration before 11/1 and reduced late registration pricing, and Long Series bundles have separate early bird and late registration discounts per race. Registration closes on Fri, Dec 18 at 11:59 PM CT.
Packet pickup is scheduled on the Fridays before each race with midday pickup windows, and same day pickup is available the morning of each race at the event. Packets may be picked up at RunningLane, 2407 Memorial Pkwy SW, Huntsville, AL.
Course features include bluff views, mountain scenery, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Several aid stations on course will provide water, Gatorade, cola, GU, pretzels, M&M's, granola bars and similar items. Marco's Pizza is listed as a sponsor and will provide pizza at the finish line.
Event shirts are short sleeve tri-blend. Age group awards cover 0-9 through 70 plus. There are no refunds, deferrals, credits, or transfers and leftover shirts are not mailed. In severe weather the start may be delayed or the event canceled. Cutoffs are generally loose; long series participants should note a 17 minute per mile cutoff.
