About the race
Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series is a three race winter trail series held at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL. The series runs across December and January and offers both short and long series options. The field for the series bundle is capped at 250 runners.
Courses include bluff views, mountain scenery, creek crossings and waterfalls. Several aid stations are provided on course offering water, Gatorade, cola, energy gels, salty snacks and granola bars. Marco's Pizza is a sponsor and will provide pizza at the finish line of each race.
Distances in the series:
- 5 Mile and 10 Mile
- 10K and Half Marathon
- 15K and 30K
Packet pickup is available the day before each race at RunningLane and the morning of each race; specific packet pickup windows are listed by the organizer. The race shirt is a short sleeve tri blend. Age groups apply to all races: 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 plus.
There are very loose course cutoffs; long series participants should note a 17 minute per mile cutoff and the organizer suggests choosing shorter distances if unable to maintain roughly 15 minute miles. Entry terms include no refunds, deferrals, credits or transfers, and leftover shirts or medals are not mailed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
