Event Format

The Devils Race Track Backyard Ultra takes place at the Land Trust of North Alabama’s Wade Mountain Preserve in Huntsville. It is a Backyard Ultra following the traditional format, where runners start a new loop every hour. Each loop is exactly 4.167 miles and must be completed within the hour for a runner to continue. A horn sounds at the top of each hour to start the loop, and runners must be in the starting corral at that time to participate.

Course

The course begins with approximately a quarter mile on a road before entering a single-track trail loop. After dark, the race moves entirely to a road loop until sunrise.

Qualification and Swag

The event can serve as a qualifier for the Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra championship. All runners receive a shirt. A finisher's cap is awarded to participants, and a buckle is given to any runner who reaches 100 miles (24 hours). Results are posted on Ultrasignup. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
